The story of Baba Budan Hills traces back to the year 1670 AD when the first coffee plantations were planted in the hills.

The mountain is also known as Datta Peeta as this place has the shrine of the very famous Hindu God Guru Dattatreya. This peak is very famous for its enthralling and famous trek. The trekking experience is followed by a trail between two mountain ranges offering breathtaking scenic views. The trek begins from Baba Budangiri and goes to Mullayyanagiri covering a trail of 12 km.
